Celebrating a very special year for North Harrow Community Library

On 25 September 2018 – one year ago this month – North Harrow Community Library opened its doors for the first time. For three years following its closure by the council, an amazing team of volunteers worked together to lobby, fundraise and work behind the scenes to restore this valuable community resource to the people of North Harrow.

The result of all this hard work and dedication is a very special place that is more than just another library. We are proud that North Harrow Library is a hub for the whole community – somewhere people of all ages can come to enjoy social events, learn new skills or simply see a friendly face.

It has been a busy and wonderful year and we are proud of the difference we have made in North Harrow. Last week we were absolutely bowled over to win the “Bringing People Together” award at Harrow’s Heroes, recognising the impact our library has had on local people.

This would not have been possible without the support of our community and the tireless work of our trustees and volunteers and we are so grateful to all involved. Special thank you to Sarina Sim for nominating us and it is an honour to know the impact we have made in our first year. We will be here for you for as long as you keep coming, keep dropping a few pounds in the collection tin and keep supporting us. We would not let such an important anniversary go by without a celebration. On Saturday 28th September, please join us between 14:00 to 16:00 for tea and cake and bring a friend or neighbour. We cannot wait to see you there!
